FAQ

Got questions? Hopefully I’ve answered most of them here.

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

I describe myself as a lifestyle photographer, I love photographing people in a natural way, so that I capture their real emotions and real personalities. it means I don’t pose you, tell you to pull certain faces, make you poke out from behind a tree or ask you to ‘reenact’ a moment because I missed it! I think photographs of natural moments tell so much more of a story than posed images and fake smiles. My images are colourful and fun, and I like using unusual angles. I also love to share photography with others, by running training courses and offering one-to-one tuition.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?

I’ve been photographing weddings since the beginning of 2015.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU SHOT?

I’ve done over 30 weddings to date (January 2019).

HOW DO I BOOK YOU?

Just fill in the form over on my contact page

AFTER I'VE BOOKED, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

For family shoots and events: I’ll ask you for some more details and invoice you for a deposit.

For weddings: I’ll email you over a booking form, a copy of my contract, and an invoice for the deposit.

DO YOU OFFER A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER + HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE?

Yes! A second photographer is an optional add-on to any package. It is a great idea to enable more photos to be taken on the day, from more than one perspective. If you have lots of guests, it can be great to have myself capturing the main moments, while the second photographer gets those great ‘in-between’ moments. It’s also great for getting reactions. The full day rate for a second photographer is currently a £150 add-on.

HOW DO YOU BACK UP YOUR PHOTOS?

Firstly, I have two cameras with two memory cards in each, so the photos are recorded to both cards. I then transfer onto two external drives, one of which is kept at home and one is off-site. I also use Adobe Lightroom with a cloud backup so my edits don’t get lost. I also don’t wipe original memory cards until after I’ve given you the photos.

HOW DO YOU EDIT YOUR PHOTOS?

I use a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I edit the photos into my style (as you hopefully will have seen from my portfolio on my website) with minor adjustments such as contrast, highlights, shadows, white balance, and exposure. I don’t do extensive retouching and removing of every spot etc because I think that the photos should still be natural, however on occasion when a bride or groom has had a particularly big spot (which can happen sometimes with stress!), I’ve retouched on request. Generally, I go by the rule that if it’s distracting in the photo, I’ll remove it. That goes for objects sometimes too, ( e.g. signs) but that’s less common.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE THE PHOTOS?

Family Shoots/Events:  My turnaround time is 2 weeks.

Weddings: My turnaround guide time is 2-4 weeks. And you receive the photos by post in a folio display case, which has a print on one side, and a USB on the other. In busy seasons this is more towards the 4 week end, but in off-peak seasons it is more like 2 weeks.

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Yes, I have public liability and professional indemnity insurance. (As well as my equipment being covered against damage, loss and theft)

DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL?

For Family Shoots/Events: Up to 25
